In the Hmong culture my name means the sun. Mom said she named me Nou to be the one to overlook and shine light to all those around me.

I have over 10 years of experience working with children of all ages and backgrounds. A non-profit organization that offered English classes had many volunteer opportunities in which I par took during high school. The association later hired me as a part time Citizenship/English instructor and then as a pre-school assistant. After receiving my Associate of Applied Science degree from Saint Paul College I decided to take on a full time position as a Bilingual Paraprofessional and Special Education Assistant for a Saint Paul school for the next 7 years. During my employment at the school I also participated in the Ameri Corps Program in which I contributed much of my time in civic engagements and being a reading tutor.

I've developed many skills and responsibilities such as: a pre-school screener, a lunchroom, bus, and classroom supervisor and a facilitator and monitor for tests. I have experiences in developing and instructing lesson plans, assisting in student behavior, participating and implementing school wide programs such as: Parent Involvement, Family Nights, school carnival, Cultural Celebration, and its annual picnic, parent and teacher communicator, teaching my own reading class on a daily basis, team meeting facilitator, and an after-school program support, to name a few. In these years I've received numerous training in developing reading and math skills to students of all grade levels.

In all of the above that I've learned and acquired there is one role that I'm fortunate to be entitled to and that's being an auntie. There are many little ones in my life that I've had the joy of seeing grow up. I have a passion for kids and believe that they are very funny and intelligent human beings. Their child like faith has given me an urgency to contain that in me as well.
